What you can expect to be doing:

The function of the Land Surveyor Project Manager is to plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of the project to best accomplish the successful completion of all projects to which assigned while operating within the guidelines established by the Regional Survey Manager and/or Service Line Director and within the policies and procedures established for project management.

Responsibilities

  • Directs others toward preparation of a professional, economical, and effective product for each individual project.
  • Works closely with personnel from other departments as necessary to ensure fulfillment of contract requirements.
  • Manages a project team and multiple projects.
  • Manages contract budgets and estimates to completion and updates as conditions change. Communicates scope of work changes with clients, including project schedule and budget impacts, and requests client approval before authorizing or performing such out-of-scope work.
  • Prepares project proposals including scope of work, time, and estimated manpower.
  • Serves as a mentor and Supervisor (as assigned) for junior and mid-level staff.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both office and field settings. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours are flexible and are subject to change based upon project schedules.


What you will need to succeed:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Surveying Engineering (or equivalent) or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree in the area of work specialization is desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years of project management and surveying experience
  • A working knowledge of modern survey techniques, and computer programs is required
  • Registration as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) in Florida, or ability to attain within 1 year, is required
  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required

What you can expect to be doing:

Haley Ward is looking for a Land Surveyor in our Leominster, MA office to oversee all aspects of survey projects, exercising creativity and ingenuity in devising criteria, techniques, strategy and methodologies for approaching assigned projects.

  • Coordinate and assist in scheduling and preparing cost estimates under the supervision of the Branch Office Manager/Department Manager.
  • Work closely with personnel from other departments, as necessary, to ensure fulfillment of contract requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for quality control to ensure surveys are correct and accurate.
  • Make recommendations on hiring, evaluating, promotion and/or discipline of assigned crew members.
  • Promote new business for the total company and for own area of expertise.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Licensure as a Massachusetts Professional Land Surveyor registration required, or licensure as a PLS by another New England state will be accepted while obtaining Massachusetts licensure through reciprocity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or related field preferred but not required
  • Experience in Boundary surveys, Topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, Land Court Surveys, Subdivisions and Construction Layout surveys
  • Three years of experience as a PLS preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Civil 3D software experience is preferred. AutoCad is required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing
  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required

What you can expect to be doing:

Haley Ward is looking for a Survey Technician in our Machias, ME office to collect land information using survey instruments, conduct reconnaissance, mark property boundaries, conduct construction stakeout, and assist Land Surveyors with computer-aided drafting and math computations.

  • Perform work on boundary and topographic surveys, and construction stakeouts as part of a field crew.
  • Prepare equipment and instruments needed for the day’s field work, keep field truck equipped, maintain and store equipment.
  • Collect data on significant site features, locating and recovering property pins and boundary markers.
  • Play a role in ensuring all projects are completed according to plan schedules, company policy, and production standards.

Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical stamina to work long hours outdoors under various field conditions, and to lift and carry 40 pounds. Year-round outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours are subject to change with overtime work as needed to meet project schedules. Occasional overnight travel may be required.


What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor or associate degree in Land Surveying (or similar) or High School Diploma supplemented by two-years in land survey work (or similar outdoor work) and demonstrated skills preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in Trimble and Sokkia surveying equipment is preferred, but not required.
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
