**Description of Work**
**Project Objective:** Provide support to the NC Geodetic Survey staff to perform a variety of surveys to support the county/state boundary program, floodplain mapping program, Flood Inundation Mapping Alert Network (FIMAN), aerial imagery and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) projects, surveys to support the 2022 datum change, height modernization surveys and mapping using an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).

**Essential Functions + Responsibilities**
Be assigned to a team that is responsible for surveying land and collecting data about land conditions prior to development projects
Adjust and operate surveying instruments such as Leica/Nikon, digital and automatic levels and various survey related software
Move and carry all surveying instruments at job sites across various kinds of landscapes
Use well-established standards to record survey measurements and descriptive data using data collectors and GPS

* Advanced level survey CAD Technician duties such as creating surfaces, managing coordinate files, deed plotting and orienting, etc.
* Deed research.
* Creating field instructions and exhibits for the field crews. As well as providing real time support to the field crews.
* Reviewing daily field data to help control scope.
* Preliminary involvement of ALTA surveys.
* Communicate with survey Project Managers regarding projects, staff concerns, equipment needs, safety issues, etc.
* Communicate with Project Managers from other departments about projects.
